Oaktown 357 is an American female hip hop group that was active in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The group was formed in Oakland, California and consisted of three members, Terrible T, Sweet LD, and Lil’ P. They were known for their energetic performances and catchy rhymes, as well as their signature style of wearing baseball caps, baggy clothing, and high-top sneakers.
Terrible T (born Stacy Adams) was the primary rapper of the group and was often referred to as the “female LL Cool J” for her smooth flow and hard-hitting lyrics. Sweet LD (born Sheila Escovedo) was the group’s drummer and provided backing vocals on their tracks, while Lil’ P (born Phyllis Charles) was the group’s dancer and hype woman.
Oaktown 357’s biggest hit was “Juicy Gotcha Krazy,” which peaked at number 9 on the US Billboard Hot Dance/Club Play chart in 1989. They also had several other popular tracks, including “Yeah, Yeah, Yeah,” “We Like It,” and “Turn It Up.”
In addition to their music career, Oaktown 357 also appeared in the film “Colors” in 1988 and performed on the television show “In Living Color” in 1990. However, the group disbanded in the early 1990s and its members pursued other endeavors in the entertainment industry.
